Four reasons to hire a Private Chef

Since the pandemic there has been a rise in the demand for private chefs. The saying “…where there is demise, there are opportunities” could not have been truer relative to the private dining space.

So what exactly is a private chef, or rather what does a private chef do, and furthermore why hire a private chef; all will be discussed in this blog so keep on reading.

A private chef is simply a chef who can be hired to serve you and your guests in the comfort of your own home typically. Private chefs also cater to larger parties and events but for the sake of this blog we shall stick to the homes.

Innovative food

Most private chefs are masters of their craft as they do not come cheap. Please note there is a nuanced different between a private caterer and a private chef. Private chefs are typically hired for their artisanal techniques with a special or celebratory occasion in mind. These occasions could be anything from a hen-do to a birthday or even a divorce party – we don’t judge!

Hence, private chefs have to be innovate and be able to deliver top notch restaurant quality food to match the celebrations and occasion at hand. It is incumbent however on the guest to do due diligence on the chef to ensure they are innovative and can deliver. We recommend a google or social media search of the chef before hire.

Indulgence

Truth be told, most chefs are competent enough to cook up something edible, however a private chef must not only push the boat out by serving delectable food, more importantly the service on the day as we as the food served must be as indulgent as possible.

After all the guests enjoyment and palates must not only be wowed, they must feel they have received the same service they would have otherwise received if they went to a top tier restaurant.

Premium produce & ingredients

Any chef worth his or her salt knows you cannot substitute skills and techniques for quality produce. Private chefs know this more than most.

Most of the food is finished at the clients’ so there is much more of an emphasis to cook, season, and garnish dishes with quality products. Private chefs understand this better than most and tend to source out the finest of British locally grown produce.

Comfort

This is my personal favourite and probably the most important reason to hire a private chef. The last eighteen months have revolutionised our habits, outlook, way of life, and interests. The pandemic even forced fine dining restaurants to go into the takeaway business to remain afloat.

Imagine a utopian world where you could look a million bucks, be served, and dine in the confines of your own home? Well private chefs can make this happen. Some private chefs even do the decorations and set up too as part of their offering.

The thought of walking through crowds and potentially risking your health greatly dissipates with the hiring of a private chef. You can be served and have your culinary needs looked after in your own by your own chef; this to me is what we call a “no brainer”
